Is Autism Speaks salvageable as an organization and if so what would have to happen to make it a functional voice for Autistics?
This is a place to define the requirements for any organization professing to be the voice of the autistic community as a whole.

It will be functional if Bob Wright resigns and turns over the reins to his daughter so his conflict of interest with Pharma does not stop the truth about thimerosal and chelation from being advertised.
My question about Katie taking over is whether she would be open minded enough to acknowledge the genetics involved with the whole issue whether we call it Autism or a genetic predisposition for susceptability to environmental toxins. the fact that 96% of all children are vaccinated and less than 1% are significantly "vaccine injured" means that there is a genetic difference in that 1% than in the other children. Is there so much animosity between tham that if she took over she would go to the opposite extreme. Would we be better off with non of the Wrights at all? Perhaps it needs a board. A mixed board consisting of adults with autism, NT parents of autistic kids, and those of us that fit into both categories. I don't know but those are my thoughts and concerns.
The good thing about Autism Speaks is that they have the ability to raise alot of funds. The bad thing is that they are not using these funds judiciously. I think being a new organization, they didn't have the substance that some of the older organizations had. I think if it were salvagable, we would need new management from the ground up. I really do not think it is salvagable. I think we should get a new, fresh organization going that starts off right.
All Autism Speaks needs are adults who are on the Spectrum on their board. That will cause changes to the mission of Autism Speaks and result in a more realistic approach.
They won't even talk to us let alone allow us on their board and if they did allow one on the board it would be one of the "sell-outs" that jump through the NT hoops rather than a strong Neurodiversity supporter or even a moderate like me that feels that we are mislabeling some children that have "autism like" symptoms and that they are really neurologically damaged from exposure to environmental toxins but that those kids are not like my genetically autistic kids.
